Murray Cheung

Murray Cheung is a distinguished Taichi and Wushu athlete with over two decades of experience in martial arts. With 23 years of Wushu training and 17 years dedicated to Traditional Taichi, Murray’s deep knowledge and expertise are backed by 18 years of coaching, making him a respected figure in the martial arts community. His credentials include the IWUF Wushu Coaches Training Course completed in Guangzhou, China 2015, and multiple NCCP Coaching Certificates, reflecting his commitment to both the practice and teaching of these arts.
Murray’s coaching philosophy is rooted in a blend of traditional principles and modern techniques, tailored to help students of all levels reach their full potential. His extensive experience as both a competitor and a coach provides a unique perspective that he brings to his teaching. Under his guidance, students not only master the physical aspects of Wushu and Taichi but also cultivate mental discipline and an appreciation for the cultural heritage of these ancient practices. Murray Cheung’s passion for martial arts and his commitment to his students have made him an influential and inspiring figure in the Wushu and Taichi community.


Representing Team Canada for Wushu and Taichi over numerous cycles, Murray has consistently demonstrated his skill at the highest levels of competition. His participation spans from 2008 to present day, showcasing his longevity and dedication to excellence. His achievements include multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals at prestigious international events, including the World Taijiquan Championships, Pan American Wushu Championships, and World Traditional Wushu Championships. In August 2023, his fascinating Wushu career were recognized when he was named the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) Athlete of the Month.
